I have got the bug to start writing again but to get this going I have to escape the ball and chain that has thwarted me in the past.
My past writing is a history of starting but never finishing. It reminds me of a management course our team was sent on around 1995 or thereabouts where they analysed us using Belbin's criteria and found most of us were instigators ... we had no completer\finishers.
Its easy to get bogged down and get overwhelmed with the task and the task ahead. My whole writing method had become like a project management exercise ... all planning and no action.
To get writing and re-awaken my childhood creativity I must try a different approach so that the story doesn't fizzle out and remain unwritten. Writing a story takes a long time, especially if you are a slow writer. I must find a way to keep the momentum going and get it to the finish line.
And most of all, I must jump in and just get started so that's what I have done and I have created my own approach to writing. The method will be as important as the story and both will be an adventure.
Both the story and the method came together in what I would like to think of as a flash of inspiration, an epiphany if you like.
All will be revealed in my next post.
